Big East Akita Rescue (BEAR) currently has 16 wonderful Akitas available for adoption as of February 1, 2026. All dogs are located in Toms River, New Jersey, and are house-trained, spayed/neutered, and vaccinated.

Bella - Extra Large Adult Female (3-8 yrs), White/Cream - Smart, friendly, and loyal. Found abandoned on a logging road in Montana, they traveled from Oregon to NJ. Great for families with older children.
Bear - Extra Large, Adult Male (3-8 yrs), Tricolor - Quiet, playful, and affectionate. Thrives on treats, walks, and human companionship. Suitable for families with older children.

Bonded Pair: Bear and Bella MUST be adopted together. They are a devoted duo who have overcome hardship together and deserve to stay together.
Adoption Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel to meet the dog at foster location in New Jersey
- Breed-savvy families preferred
- Secure backyard recommended
- Many dogs prefer to be the only pet in household
